Thu, Jun 14, 2018 | Hair Products How to Organize Your Hair Products in 4 Easy Steps Get to organizing your hair products with these 4 simple steps. You cringe at the sight of disorganized bottles, brushes, and styling tools e very time you open a drawer in your bathroom . “There must be a better way,” you think to yourself. Thankfully, there is, and it won’t break the bank or end up taking too much time away from your busy day. So, depending on the time of day, grab yourself a coffee or a glass of wine and get to organizing with these 4 simple steps: Use containers to compartmentalize your styling tools We’ve all been there…you had a gazillion bobby pins and then suddenly, you’re down to 1. When you’ve got styling tools and product floating free in a drawer, things just tend to get lost or shuffled around. To help keep smaller hair products and styling tools (e.g. bobby pins, hair ties, and scrunchies), place them in small, size appropriate containers. Check the bathroom, kitchen, and closet aisles of your local Target to find containers of various sizes and styles. Hang up your hot tools and hairspray If your hot tools look more like something out of a mechanical closet than something you use to beautify yourself, then it’s time to neatly arrange them in a door organizer. There’s a variety of door organizers out there – woven, plastic, or metal – and you can easily find ones with different sized pockets and shelves. Utilize the space to store bigger bottles of product like hairspray, mousse, and shampoo. Use a lazy Susan to find hair products easily You know that thing your mom uses to keep spices and other random kitchen stuff on? Well, it’s also very useful in the bathroom. Grab a lazy Susan in the kitchen aisle – they come in a variety of finishes – and then load it up with small to medium sized hair products. When you need a product, just spin! The lazy Susan makes for a pretty display too, so you can confidently place this on your counter. Use a closet to store hair products If you’re limited on bathroom space or you’re just a product junkie (it’s ok…we are too!), then utilize space in your linen closet or clothes closet to neatly store hair items. We know it may be hard to make room, but do you really need those shoes you haven’t worn in over a year? We like to organize our styling tools and product in clear bins so it’s easy to see all those beautiful bottles of hair products. Read More

A signature translucent starch blend cleans hair without leaving a powdery residue and a fragrance retaining technology keeps hair smelling fresh throughout the day. Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray With the summer heat and humidity quickly approaching, we couldn’t imagine leaving the house without this finishing spray. Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray acts as a shield against humidity to protect blowouts and curls. But, it gets better…this spray will not only offer you protection from those humid San Diego summer days, it will also give volume and nutrients to help strengthen hair. Signature Shampoo No matter what your hair type is, you can’t go wrong with this indulgent daily shampoo. Did we mention Signature Shampoo is a favorite of Demi Lovato? Designed to use on the daily, it offers hydration without heaviness – hair won’t be weighed down by this custom blended formula. This shampoo also contains Keratin, which helps strengthen hair, and natural UV protecting ingredients. The Cleanse Clarifying Shampoo A recipient of Glamour’s 2017 Beauty Awards, The Cleanse Clarifying Shampoo contains volcanic ash to gently remove oil, dirt, and product build up from hair. Dispensed as a mousse, this cleansing shampoo is very user friendly. We recommend using once a week to exfoliate and restore hair. Read More
Fri, Jun 1, 2018 | Long Hair 2018’s Most Popular Styles for Long Hair Try refreshing your do with 2018’s most popular styles for long hair. Ok, let’s face it…long hair isn’t as easy to maintain as a shorter cut, but the added length does have its benefits. Think of it this way; the more hair you have, the more fun you can have with it. So, before you’re tempted to chop off inches, try refreshing your do with 2018’s most popular styles for long hair: 70’s inspired hair The 70’s brought us a few iconic hair moments, but one has continued to stand the test of time – long hair with long bangs. The long hair, long bang look brought to popularity by the likes of Joni Mitchell and Stevie Knicks is more manicured today, but overall hasn’t really changed much. The most important tools to maintain this look is a good conditioner and a good pair of shears. Even if bangs are kept long, you’ll want to trim them regularly to prevent split ends from occurring. Side part To side part of not to side part? There is NO question because side parts are where it’s at this year. By default, most women part their hair down the middle. But, don’t be afraid to change things…part those long locks down the side. Before styling hair, create a deep side part with a long tooth comb. To add volume at the roots, work R+Co’s Rodeo Star Thickening Mousse into damp hair. Bedhead hair It may look like it took little to no effort, but just got out of bed hair aka bedhead hair (a favorite of supermodel Cara Delevingne) does take a teeny bit of effort. Spritz a texture spray like Oribe’s Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray through damp hair and comb with a wide tooth comb. Let hair dry and if needed, spritz hair again with the texture spray. Give a quick tousle to hair and if you feel the need to, tousle throughout the day. Exaggerated ponytails The exaggerated ponytail is big this year (no pun intended). Whether it’s a high or low ponytail, slick the base of it back neatly and then add massive volume to the ends. Volume can be created by adding texture to the hair via curls or teasing. If you’re still not achieving Ariana Grande ponytail status, don’t hesitate to add length via tape-in hair extensions. Did you know tape-in extensions are one of the fastest and most comfortable ways to add length and volume to your hair? Fri, May 25, 2018 | Hair Brush The 4 Brushes Every Woman Should Own Not all brushes are the same and some serve a very specific purpose. There’s just some brushes we couldn’t live without. A cousin to the comb, hair brushes were once only accessible to royalty or the rich. Lucky for you, you don’t have to be a royal or a sheik to own a brush nowadays. In fact, most women own more than just one brush and more than likely own two or three. Not all brushes are the same, however, and some serve a very specific purpose. Although you’d probably find a drawer full of brushes in every one of our homes (we ARE in the hair biz; wink, wink) there’s just some even we couldn’t live without. The 4 brushes every woman should own, include: Wet Brush Designed with unique flexible bristles, the Wet Brush easily brushes out wet, damp, and dry hair without any pulling or snagging. The company’s website claims, “Finally, the tears (and curses) stopped,” and we couldn’t agree more. This brush glides through hair, particularly wet hair, like skates on ice and is a favorite of ours for prepping hair for styling. Round brush Just as the name implies, the round brush has a round barrel head. The round shape of the brush helps create volume – think big and bouncy blowout. There’s an almost endless variety of round brushes available. You can get them in different sizes, (ranging from extra small to extra large) and different bristles. The length of your hair will largely determine the size of the round brush you choose. Choose a smaller barreled brush if your hair is on the shorter and vice versa for longer lengths. Mixed bristle brush Mixed bristle brushes are made with both nylon (synthetic) and boar (natural) bristles. Why two different types of bristles? Nylon bristles help detangle locks while natural bristles, which are usually shorter in length, help distribute oils and smooth cuticles. Regular use of a mixed bristle brush can help remove impurities like uric acid from the scalp and increase blood circulation. Travel brush Often overlooked, but a must for keeping your mane in tip top shape, the travel size brush (or any smaller sized brush for that matter) is a must in our book. Although small, there’s a number of options when selecting a travel size brush – round, foldable, and encased. Keep in mind; because travel brushes are often thrown into the depths of purses or carry-on bags, you may need to replace it more often than a regular hair brush. Read More
Fri, May 18, 2018 | Curls The 4 Most Popular Types of Curls New styling tools and products have helped birth a whole new generation of curl styles and techniques. If you weren’t blessed with naturally curly hair, you’ve more than likely used a curling iron to achieve what doesn’t come naturally. And, unless you’re a pro stylist, it’s more than likely your curl repertoire is limited. New styling tools and products have helped birth a whole new generation of curl styles and techniques. Ringlet/tight curls Ringlet curls or tight curls as they’re also called are reminiscent of Beyonce’s or Shakira’s most popular hairstyles. Woven tightly around a small curling iron, small sections of hair are left to cool and then finger brushed to maintain the small size of the curl. For those blessed with this type of curl naturally, it’s best to let hair air dry and then gently style with a finger or small comb. Beach/relaxed waves The most coveted curl currently, beach waves can be achieved without a trip to the beach. Although there are a few ways to achieve beach waves, our favorite technique is to: Prep with a styling product like mousse (try Oribe’s Curl Shaping Mousse) Start at about 1 ½” from the crown of the head Wrap 1” sections of hair around a medium to large barreled curling iron for approximately 3 – 4 seconds. Make sure to alternate the direction of the curl with each section of hair to give a more lived in, less uniform look. Oh, and leave the ends of hair free from the barrel Shake curls out before spraying a light hold hairspray. Full/flat curls If you’re looking for a more traditional look, full, flat curls are the way to go. Larger sections of hair are wrapped around a medium to large barrel curling iron without twisting the hair. When attempting this technique, think of creating a flat sheet of paper with your hair before placing on the iron. The entire length of the section of hair is placed on the iron – root to tip. After leaving the hair on the iron for a few seconds, gently release curl and let cool. For more hold, set hair with a setting clip. After hair has cooled completely, unclip and style. Twisted/full curls For a slightly different take on the more traditional full curl, twist hair before wrapping around a medium barreled curling iron. You don’t need to twist the hair very tight or worry about the twist being perfect. The uneven pattern of the curl adds texture and makes it look more natural. Read More
